Types of slimming pills

Slimming pills can be divided into 2 main categories:

  • Medication for losing weight – this type can only be bought with a medical prescription and can only be taken under the observation of a physician or nutritionist.
  • Weight loss supplements – these are usually made of natural ingredients and are the most popular slimming products. This kind of slimming pills don't require a medical prescription or surveillance and are usually sold on the Internet under many forms, from pills to syrups or powders.

Because this article focuses on weight loss supplements, you should know that these can also be split into categories, which can be presented as follows:

  • Thermogenics – These will burn fats by increasing the temperature of the body.
  • Appetite suppressants – These supplements will reduce carvings forcing the consumer to eat less, a fact that will eventually lead to weight loss.
  • Metabolism enhancers – They will increase the metabolic rate in order to force the body to burn fat faster.
  • Mixtures of two or all of the previous categories

Weight loss supplements contraindications

Slimming supplements are advertised as totally free of side effects, a fact that is poorly argued by the manufacturers. Commonly, producers state that the main reason why their supplements are completely safe is that they are made of 100% natural ingredients – plants extracts.

However, is a well-known fact that plants may present side effects when taken in high doses or when the main active substance is present in high concentrations.

For example, hot pepper extract (used in some weight loss products) may cause nausea, gastroesophageal reflux, and stomach aches.

Caffeine, which is a common ingredient in slimming pills, may cause high blood pressure, dehydration, insomnia, or even addiction.

HCA (hydroxycitric acid – extracted from Garcinia Cambodia, especially), when taken in high doses, may cause nausea, high blood pressure, vomiting, or dizziness.

In general, every plant that is in the compositions of slimming pills may cause side effects, therefore do a research on the possible side effects of any ingredient listed on the products' labels.

Slimming pills are contraindicated for pregnant or breastfeeding women, for people suffering from cardiovascular diseases or disorders, and for those who have digestive problems.

When to take weight loss supplements?

Weight loss supplements should be taken only if other slimming methods don't work. So, if you've already tried diets and training without very positive results, then slimming pills can offer a solution for your weight problem, especially when combined with slimming diets and exercises.

Thermogenic slimming supplements should be taken with 30 minutes before breakfast, appetite suppressants should be taken before meals, usually, while metabolism enhancers and combinations of all these should only be taken as the producers recommend.

Always read the supplement's label for the exact daily dose and how to take it.

Weight loss products are dedicated to overweight and obese people. If you want to shed only a few pounds, you should redirect your attention to other methods, such as weight loss diets and/or exercises.

Safest weight loss supplements to take

I know it may sound contradictory, but there are weight loss products that are safe if the recommended dosages are respected.

One of the safest products for weight loss on the market are PhenQ, Slim Trim 2000, CLA Safflower Oil, Perfect Biotics and Bio X4.

These supplements received high rates and positive reviews from customers, plus they don't present side effects in the recommended doses.

However, pregnant women or breastfeeding moms should avoid these, too, since the active substances from their ingredients may pass to the baby and may cause problems to the fetuses or, respectively, to the infants.
